Getting the tram at Piccadilly Gardens

Piccadilly Gardens is one of the busier stops on the network — 3 of the seven lines call here, which is why there is a tram every few minutes rather than every quarter of an hour. It is about 3 minutes from St Peter's Square in the city centre on the Purple Line, and 0.5 km away on the ground. On the Blue Line it is stop 14 of 27. On the Purple Line it is stop 5 of 17. Counting both directions, 570 trams call on a normal weekday.

Questions about Piccadilly Gardens

Yes. 3 lines call here — Blue Line, Purple Line and Yellow Line — and on Metrolink you change on the platform, so there is no walk between stations.

05:06, Monday to Thursday. Saturday and Sunday both start later; the table above has each day.

The last one leaves at 00:59, after midnight — it still counts as the previous day’s service, which is why timetables write it as a time past 24:00. Friday and Saturday run later still.

About 3 minutes to St Peter's Square on the Purple Line, and the journey planner will do any other pair of stops.

570 trams a weekday in the two directions together, which works out at one every few minutes through the day rather than the 15-minute gap of a single-line stop.
