How the stop list was checked
Getting a stop list wrong is the cheapest way to make a transport site useless, so this one went through three independent sources before a single page was written.
The operator’s registered timetable gives 199 platform codes. The Department for Transport’s NaPTAN register confirms every one of them is a real, active stop and supplies the coordinates. And because those two share their name strings — the timetable copies its stop names from NaPTAN, so agreeing proves less than it looks — the set of stops was checked a third time against an independent published list. All three agree on the same 99 stops, with nothing extra and nothing missing.
Two stops the register knows and the timetable does not serve turned out to be genuinely closed: Mosley Street, shut in 2013 when the Piccadilly axis was rebuilt, and Woodlands Road, closed on 16 December 2013 and replaced by Queens Road and Abraham Moss. A stop that “should” be there and is not looks exactly like a data error, so both were verified outside the two sources before being written off.
Tram times on this page come from the Traveline National Dataset (TransXChange, Open Government Licence v3.0); stop names and coordinates from NaPTAN, the Department for Transport stop register. Manchester Metrolink is an independent guide: it is not run by Metrolink or Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and has no connection with either. Check tfgm.com before you travel.
