Manchester Metrolink — independent guide to the Manchester tram network

Legal notice

Publisher, sources, licences and the limits of what this site claims.

1. Publisher

Manchester Metrolink is published by Nireweb. Contact: [email protected].

It is an independent site. It is not operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Metrolink, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) or any transport authority. “Metrolink” and “Bee Network” are names used here descriptively, to say what the site is about; all rights in them belong to their owners.

2. Where the data comes from, and under what licence

Timetables, line routes and stop sequences: the Traveline National Dataset (TransXChange), and stop names, codes and coordinates: NaPTAN, Department for Transport. Both are published under the Open Government Licence v3.0, which permits commercial use with attribution:

Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0

The timetable in force on this site runs from 2026-11-09 to 2031-11-02.

3. The map

The network map on this site is our own work, drawn from the data above. It is not the operator’s map modified, and it is not an AI redraw of anybody else’s diagram — both of those would be derivative works of somebody’s copyright, and a model redrawing a map also rewrites the stop names, which is the one thing that must not be wrong.

Our map is released under CC BY 4.0. Use it anywhere, including commercially, with credit to manchestermetrolink.org.

The line colours are our own choice. The operator does not publish hexadecimal values and its site is closed to automated reading, so each line is drawn in the colour its name describes, picked so that the seven are distinguishable and the text on each badge passes a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. They are not the operator’s brand values.

4. Accuracy, and what this site does not promise

Every figure here is generated from the datasets named above and checked by automated tests before publication. That makes it accurate to the data; it does not make it a guarantee.

This site shows a published timetable, not live running. It cannot know about a signal failure, a diversion or a tram that is simply late. Engineering works change the timetable regularly on this network. Before a journey that matters, check the operator.

We publish no fares. Where this site and the operator disagree, the operator is right.

5. Advertising

The site is funded by advertising served by third parties. Ads are labelled and are not editorial. No advertiser has any say in what the pages say, and there are no affiliate links to ticket sellers.

6. Links out

Links to the operator and to other sites are provided for your convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they publish.

7. Photographs

The photographs behind the page headings come from Wikimedia Commons. Only images without a share-alike clause were used — public domain, CC0 and CC BY — because each one is darkened to a measured degree so that white text over it reaches a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and that darkening makes it a modified work. Credit is given here as the licences require:

Several pages share a photograph. There is no freely licensed photo of each individual line, and inventing an association — captioning a tram as something it is not — would be worse than repeating an image and saying so.

8. Law

This notice is governed by the law of England and Wales.

Tram times on this page come from the Traveline National Dataset (TransXChange, Open Government Licence v3.0); stop names and coordinates from NaPTAN, the Department for Transport stop register. Manchester Metrolink is an independent guide: it is not run by Metrolink or Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and has no connection with either. Check tfgm.com before you travel.
